Videogame guru to kick off Tata Dialogue on Innovation at Liberty Science Center
Jersey City: On April 25, 2013, Liberty Science Center will host J Moses, founder and president of ChiPlatform, who green lighted the famed Grand Theft Auto videogame, to kick off Liberty Science Center’s Tata Dialogue on Innovation. Mr Moses will be joined by Kshitij Nerurkar, COO of Tata Interactive Systems (TIS), the pioneer and global leader in learning solutions and business simulations.
“Creativity in all its forms, be it success or failure, is the backbone of Tata. It is instilled in our culture,” said Kapil Sharma, senior general manager for Tata Sons North America. “The gaming industry is one of the most incredible growth stories of the last 20 years. We are thrilled to begin the Tata Dialogue on Innovation with such a prominent and successful innovator,” Mr Sharma added.
Mr Moses and Mr Nerurkar will be the first speakers at the event. Supported by Tata Sons, the lectures are free to the public.
Mr Moses will discuss his work shaping technology and media in various contexts, including games and entertainment. He will share how his own personal experiences have impacted his changing outlook on technology. He will also present his vision for the evolution of social media into forms that have the potential to create healthier relationships in cyberspace and allow end users greater influence over the value of data generated through their online interactions. Following his 30-minute presentation, Mr Moses will open the floor to questions from the audience.
Mr Nerurkar will address what Alternate Reality Gaming (ARG) means and how it sets the stage for next generation learning interventions. ‘Training’ evolved into ‘learning’ in the nineties and very soon became technology-enabled self-paced learning. However, fundamentally this remained a formal intervention and didactic in nature. Learning for tomorrow demands a solid confluence with social media as well as collaboration. But while the training industry talks about this phenomenon, practitioners have struggled to bring it all together. ARG is an innovative intervention that campaigners have used to launch marketing events. This can become an engaging product format for high-touch learning interventions such as leadership development.
TIS is the world's largest developer of e-learning solutions, offering the complete spectrum of services and solutions related to training and competency development.
When: Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 5.30pm.
